The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has selected six sites that will host the first European quantum computers. The LUMI-Q consortium, which Denmark participates in, has been chosen to host one the quantum computers, which will be located at the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre in Ostrava, Czechia. Other countries that will host EuroHPC quantum computers inculde Germany, Spain, France, Italy, and Poland.

The EuroHPC quantum computers will be integrated with existing EuroHPC supercomputers. They are expected to become available by the second half of 2023.

Within a medium to long term period, it is expected that quantum computing will dramatically increase the quality and impact of research and innovation. The integration of High Performance Computing facilities with quantum computers will allow developers and end-users to immediately use existing and near-term quantum computing solutions.

Researchers from all the EuroHPC JU participating countries, including Denmark, will be able to apply for resources on the EuroHPC quantum computers once they become available.
