On the 1st of February 2024, the SDU eScience Center welcomed its newest employee, Jonas Alexander Whittlestone. Jonas has joined the research support unit/SDU Front Office where his educational background in social science (major) and computer science (minor), supplemented with a PhD in political science, will be particularly beneficial for the growing user base at SDU from social sciences and humanities:
“I believe that researchers from many different disciplines can benefit from using high performance computing in their research and/or teaching. Thus, I am very motivated by the idea of helping to facilitate this – both by supporting individual researchers and research groups, but also by working to keep the UCloud platform as useful and accessible as possible,” says Jonas Alexander Whittlestone.
Jonas recently submitted his PhD and hopes to defend it soon. He has worked with a broad range of topics and methods within computational social science with an emphasis on natural language processing and econometrics.
Jonas already knows SDU well as he did his PhD at the Department of Political Science and Public Management.
In his spare time, Jonas enjoys spending a lot of time with family and friends, as well cooking and gardening.
Welcome Jonas! We are happy to have you with us 😀
