Recent advances in next-generation sequencing, as well as the corresponding bioinformatics questions, generate an obvious need for HPC methods in the field of precision medicine. We have recently started to explore this field and believe that our HPC expertise can be used to speed up time-critical workflows, to better manage the large amount of data involved, and to lead to more cost-efficient solutions.
