This has freed up a lot of local SDU resources, and we are therefore opening a new call to distribute the remaining resources for the first half of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current call is continuously open until we have allocated all available resources. We will allocate resources according to a first-come-first-served principle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notice that this call is for SDU researchers only.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notice also that since this call is announced outside of the DeiC cycle of calls,&nbsp;<strong>it is NOT a requirement that you have also submitted an application to DeiC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the present call, the following resources are available:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Type1 \u2013 DeiC Interactive HPC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The type 1 system is mainly focused on interactive computing and easy access for users. The system is made of the YouGene cluster hosted at SDU (see cluster specs&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/?page_id=5711\">here<\/a>) and the OpenStack cluster at AAU. SDU researchers can access the cluster resources via their&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/index.php\/ucloud\/\" target=\"_blank\">UCloud<\/a>&nbsp;account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resources available to SDU for the first half of 2024: 864,000 CPU core hours and 98,000 GPU hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Type 2 \u2013 DeiC Throughput HPC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resources available:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>1,000,000 CPU core hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This type of HPC system typically has a large number of cores&nbsp;which can be a mix between cost-effective and calculation-efficient units. Type 2 also has the ability to handle large amounts of data and its main focus is on high-throughput performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three type 2 HPC systems available at national level for SDU researchers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/?page_id=5578\">Computerome 2.0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/?page_id=5520\">GenomeDK<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/?page_id=5586\">Sophia<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The hardware accessible to SDU users for a type 2 HPC project is shown in the table below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Compurerome 2.0<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>GenomeDK<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Sophia<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Xeon Gold 6230 Cascade Lake, 40 cores, 192 GB<\/td><td>AMD EPYC Rome 7452, 64 cores, 512 GB<\/td><td>AMD EPYC 7351, 32 cores, 128 GB<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Access the HPC Type 2 facilities by submitting an&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Template_project-application-form.docx\">application form<\/a>&nbsp;via our&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jira.cloud.sdu.dk\/servicedesk\/customer\/user\/login?destination=portals\" target=\"_blank\">service desk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Type 3 \u2013 DeiC Large Memory HPC&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resources available: 1,427,500 CPU core hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This type of HPC system focuses on problem solving, with a structure that cannot be easily or efficiently distributed between many computer nodes.&nbsp;This is a type of system that is characterized by typically relatively few cores with access to a large globally addressable memory area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Type 3 is hosted and maintained at SDU. For the cluster specs check&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/index.php\/type-3-large-memory-hpc\/\">here<\/a>. The user guide can be found at&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.hpc-type3.sdu.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\">this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/escience.sdu.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Template_project-application-form.docx\">The application form<\/a>&nbsp;for resources on one of the HPC Type 3 systems should also be submitted to our&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jira.cloud.sdu.dk\/servicedesk\/customer\/user\/login?destination=portals\" target=\"_blank\">service desk<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>LUMI Capability HPC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CPU resources available: 550,000 CPU core hours.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GPU resources available: 44,000 GPU hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LUMI is an&nbsp;abbreviation&nbsp;for \u201cLarge Unified Modern Infrastructure\u201d. LUMI is one of the three European pre-exascale supercomputers part of the EuroHPC project and located in CSC\u2019s data center in Kajaani, Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Denmark participates in the consortium behind the LUMI supercomputer.
