Denmark\u2019s AI supercomputer, Gefion, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday, 23rd of October<\/a>. The event, held in Copenhagen, marked a significant milestone in Denmark\u2019s technological advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gefion, an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, is powered by 1,528 NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs and interconnected using NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking. This powerful setup is expected to drive breakthroughs in quantum computing, clean energy, biotechnology, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gefion is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO). The AI supercomputer is owned and operated by the Danish Centre for AI Innovation A\/S (DCAI) <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\u00a0inauguration\u00a0ceremony\u00a0was\u00a0graced\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0presence\u00a0of\u00a0King\u00a0Frederik\u00a0X\u00a0of\u00a0Denmark,\u00a0NVIDIA\u00a0founder\u00a0and\u00a0CEO\u00a0Jensen\u00a0Huang and CEO of DCAI, Nadia Carlsten.\u00a0From SDU, the SDU eScience Center\u2019s director, Prof. Claudio Pica, and Head of Department for Mathematics and Computer Science, Martin Svensson, participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the event, Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of having a sovereign AI infrastructure, stating, \u201cGefion is going to be a factory of intelligence. This is a new industry that never existed before. It sits on top of the IT industry.
